Ziggurat Interactive recently launched the Retro First Friday program, where the publisher of retro-and-modern games will be debuting digital releases of classic PC games at discounted prices. The inaugural Retro First Friday event kicked off the program on August 1 with the release of four games, and the next event is scheduled for September 4.
As a show of its commitment to presenting classic video games that have never before been offered on a digital platform to as many gamers as possible, Ziggurat’s introductory Retro First Friday event dropped Altered Destiny, Hunting Unlimited 1, Return of the Phantom, and The Train: Escape from Normandy into the Steam store. All these games will carry a 33% discount price until Friday, August 14.
Altered Destiny (developed by Accolade, Inc.) is a surreal sci-fi point-and-click adventure that places you in-game as P.J. Barret, an average guy who gets transported through a television to an alien world. There PJ must contend for survival while encountering alien life forms, solving beguiling puzzles, and exploring exotic environments, all while also attempting to deal with a rather perplexing mystery.
Hunting Unlimited 1 (developed by SCS Software) takes you into a virtual forest on a hunt for wildlife in over 220 missions across rugged regions of Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Texas, and British Columbia. You have access to over 30 weapons and accessories to hunt with, along with the Hunting Unlimited’s Animal Database to help identify and track your potential trophy prize.
The legendary Phantom of the Opera is back in Return of the Phantom (developed by MPS Labs), and it’s up to you as Inspector Raoul Montand to find and stop them before another murder happens. Phantom was originally released in 1993 by the revered video game studio MicroProse, who announced their return in May this year.
In The Train: Escape to Normandy (developed by Artech Digital Entertainments, Inc.), you are a leader in the French Resistance during World War II, tasked with capturing a Third Reich war train filled with stolen French art. Once captured, you must then guide it safely through enemy territory to the friendly Allied-held city of Riviere, Normandy.
“Retro First Friday is our commitment to the retro community that we’ll be putting out meaningful content month-in and month-out. This was an initiative that’s been in the works for some time, however, we waited until we were sure we could deliver on our promise for years to come,” said Wade Rosen, CEO of Ziggurat Interactive. “We want to thank the community for the support over the last year and we hope we can make a meaningful contribution to the appreciation of retro gaming.”
Ziggurat has amassed over 40 classic video games to offer through the Retro First Friday program. Click over to the Ziggurat Interactive Retro First Friday Steam page and its Facebook and Twitter channels for more news and info.
