There are many beautiful locations that are located in Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s Hyrule, and the Korok Forest is one of the most magical of these open-world map markers. There are many shrines and quests to complete in the Korok Forest, although it is easy to miss certain details if you aren’t looking closely.

There are five shrines located in the area in total, and the forest is also home to the famous Master Sword and the adorable Korok characters. Locating everything in the Korok Forest can be a time-consuming task, but luckily, most of it can be unlocked relatively easily if you know where to look.

10 Korok Forest Can Be Entered During Any Point In The Story

Although it may seem as though the Korok Forest can only be entered after all four of the Divine beasts are tamed, and Link is gearing up to fight Calamity Ganon, the Korok Forest can be entered during any stage in the game.

The player can even enter the forest straight after leaving the Great Plateau, and if Link has enough hearts, he can obtain the Master Sword during any point in the story.

9 The Keo Rugg Shrine

The Keo Rugg shrine is considered to be one of the most challenging and confusing shrines in Breath of the Wild. It is located directly inside of Korok Forest, and it is hard to miss since it is right next to the Great Deku Tree.

The reason that the Keo Rugg shrine is so unique is that it uses constellations that are located on the wall to solve its puzzle. Link has to line up the correct constellations and place a ball in the correct spots for the shrine to be completed. It’s very easy to wander around inside this shrine for a while before you realize what you’re supposed to do, and there are probably a few players who have solved it by luck and missed the solution entirely.

8 The Korok Mask

There are many different items that were added to Breath of the Wild through DLC, and the Korok Mask is one of the most useful among them. This mask allows Link to sense when there is a Korok puzzle nearby, which is incredibly useful, considering that there are nearly one thousand Korok Seeds in the entirety of Breath of the Wild’s world.

The Korok Mask is located just outside of the entrance to Korok Forest. It’s found inside of a tree, and activating Magnesis will make it easier to locate, since it is inside of a magnetic chest.

7 Each Of the Three Trial Shrines Have Challenges Outside Of The Shrine

Many of the shrines in Breath of the Wild have a challenge inside of the shrine; however, all three of the special trials located in the Korok Forest take place outside of the shrines instead of having a puzzle on the inside. There are a lot of shrines in BOTW that share this trait; however, most are individual shrines and aren’t connected to other shrines in the same way that these three trials are related.

The Test of Wood, the Trial of Second Sight, and The Lost Pilgrimage each have unique trials that feature Link completing different tasks. These tasks include stealthily following a young Korok, solving a puzzle in a tree trunk, and running through a dangerous path to get to the shrine entrance.

6 The Master Sword Requires Thirteen Permanent Hearts

Since most players decide to acquire the Master Sword right before fighting Calamity Ganon, it is easy to miss the exact amount of hearts that are required for Link to pull the sword out of the ground.

Thirteen hearts are required to pull the Master Sword up. Most players probably won’t have enough hearts to uproot the sword before they have beaten at least a few of the Divine Beasts.

5 Korok Seeds Are Actually Poop

Breath of the Wild is full of interesting characters; however, one of the most unique and funniest of the Koroks is Hestu. This Korok gives you a special prize if you collect every Korok Seed in the game; however, this item doesn’t have any functional use. The name of this item is Hestu’s Gift, and its description reveals that it smells very bad.

The secret reality of Korok Seeds is that they’re actually Korok poop, and this is why these seemingly special items are so common throughout Hyrule. It is somewhat strange that Hestu asks Link to bring him Korok seeds as if he’s collecting the poop of other Koroks.

4 Walton The Korok

Walton is a Korok that resides at the top of the Deku Tree in Korok Forest. This Korok is hard to miss because of where he is located; however, he is one of the most interesting characters in BOTW.

Walton gives Link five different tasks that he must solve, and if all of them are completed, you will earn a special reward. All of Walton’s tasks require you to bring him an item, ranging from a simple Apple to a Voltfin Trout. Walton also gives Link a riddle for his final quest. Once these tasks are completed, you will be rewarded with a Diamond.

3 “A Freezing Rod” Side Quest

The “A Freezing Rod” side quest is one of the smallest quests in Breath of the Wild, and it is easy to miss since it isn’t integral to the story or well-being of Korok Forest. Kula the Korok asks Link to bring him an Ice-Infused Rod, which is a relatively easy weapon to obtain because it is found all over Hyrule.

Once Link brings Kula an Ice-Infused Rod, Kula will gift Link a silver rupee — or a gold rupee if Link shows him a Blizzard Rod instead. Regardless of which Freezing Rod Link has in his possession, this side quest should be completed since it is an easy way to collect a ton of rupees.

Oaki is a young Korok that Link has to spy on during The Lost Pilgrimage. If you get caught by Oaki during the quest, then you are sent back to the location where the trial started.

In most games, this would be considered a death or a reset; however, in BOTW, there is an in-universe reason that Link gets taken back to the beginning of the quest. After being spotted by Oaki, the Spirits of the Woods realize Link’s failure and grab him, making Link restart the trial completely.

1 The Shop In The Great Deku Tree

Most of the main cities in Breath of the Wild have a shop that sells specific items that are unique to that individual settlement, and the Korok Forest is no different. However, the shop in the Korok Forest is easy to miss since it is located inside of the Great Deku Tree, and depending on where Link adventures, it’s easy to miss entirely.

Link is able to enter the Great Deku Tree tree through a hole in the middle of it, and inside he can buy a plethora of different items, including Shock Arrows, Hylian Rice, Apples, Hearty Radishes, and Cane Sugar.
