Sid Meier’s Civilization 6 is this week’s free game on the Epic Game Store, but you only have until Thursday to claim it.
After surprise dropping Grand Theft Auto V as the free game last week, Epic has followed it up with another AAA title. Civilization 6 is a 4x strategy game and the latest in this series of beloved titles.
Released in 2016, Civ 6 is turn-based strategy game all about total world domination. Players begin with just a handful a villagers and must build a mighty empire by researching technological advancements, exploring the world, forming relationships, and growing their economy.
In Civilization 6, there are 5 ways to win: Science, Culture, Domination, Religion, and Diplomacy. Players are free to develop their civilizations however they wish and pursue whichever victory condition they want. As far as strategy games go, Civ 6 is incredibly open-ended and offers a lot of variety in playstyles.
Civ 6 can be played either solo against AI or with up to 20 other players. There are a variety of map sizes and layouts to fit any type of game. Whether you want a quick dual with a friend or a 20-person epic saga that can last weeks, Civ can be tailored to fit your needs.
