In celebration of the release of the Xbox Series X, Microsoft is hosting a “Hall of Fame” event, celebrating the feats of the best gamers of the generation. With eight categories to compete for, the top players within each category from each participating country will find themselves one Xbox Series X richer, on top of a free year of Game Pass Ultimate, an exclusive Hall of Fame hoodie, a trophy and of course, your name forever engraved in the Xbox Hall of Fame.

This event is open to players in all of the following countries: The United States, Canada (excluding Quebec), Brazil, Mexico, France, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Poland and Sweden, and requires that you have a pre-existing registered gamertag. Registration is done here. While there are eight categories, this guide will focus on two of the five Xbox Trials categories, Gamerscore Champion and Achievement Defeater.

Gamerscore Champion will require you to earn the most Gamerscore between October 1 and October 19, while Achievement Defeater requires the most achievements to be unlocked during that same time period. I have been deep into the achievement-hunting game for many years now, so hopefully the information I have to give will prove helpful in those attempting to claim their spot in the Hall of Fame. There are also Hall of Fame entries for players who have put up the most Gamerscore and achievement unlocks during the life of the Xbox One, but it is far too late to stand a chance competing there.

Quick And Easy Games

The key here is not to play good games, but to play the quick games with easy achievements. Achievements that require any degree of time or effort are undesirable. Some of these can be played for free on Game Pass, though some may require you to purchase the game. As many of the easiest games are indie-developed, they will be rather cheap.

Easy Games On Game Pass

Some notable Game Pass games with easy achievements include (video walkthroughs in the hyperlinks):

  • Surviving Mars: This game has a built in mod manager, and of course, there are mods made specifically for achievements. Install the “TA MOD - Unlock All Achievements” and “ChoGGi’s Library” mods through the Paradox Mod Manager in the main menu and start a new game. You will instantly unlock 50 achievements for 1000G, or 70 achievements for 1500G if you own the DLC. This can be done for both the Xbox and Windows 10 version of the title. Don’t Starve: Giant Edition: This game includes a console command accessible if you are playing on the Windows 10 version, free with Game Pass for PC. The full 1000G and 10 achievements can be unlocked in a matter of minutes. Subnautica: Similarly, this game has console commands, accessible on the Xbox One that can be used to unlock the 17 achievements in under an hour. Fracture Minds, Wandersong, Tracks - The Train Set Game, The Gardens Between, Tacoma and What Remains of Edith Finch can all be completed in under two hours each, with 79 achievements for 6000G. Astrologaster and Endless Legend are two Game Pass for PC games that can also be completed in less than one hour. Endless Legend will require the use of in-game console commands.

Indie Games With Easy Achievements

Venturing outside of Game Pass, there are hundreds of games that absolutely stomp these Game Pass titles in terms of quickness and difficulty. Developer Ratalaika Games is notorious for releasing games that are laughably quick and easy. A full list of their titles can be found here, along with their completion times. 56 of their games clock in at less than one hour, with many being only a few minutes long, while 17 fall into the 1-2 hour category. Most of their titles cost just $4.99, and completion of all of them will net you an astonishing 83000G and over 1300 achievements. This alone could win you the title.

Another developer to target is Sometimes You. While they don’t boast the numbers that Ratalaika does, they do have eight 0-1 hour games and 10 1-2 hour games. The list of games can be found here. Similarly, there are eastasiasoft, Victory Road and Xitilon, which will net you 22 0-1 hour completions and five 1-2 hour completions. Between these four developers, you can get 45000G and over 600 achievements. Simply look up a video walkthrough for any game from any of these developers and you will find numerous to choose from. Guide creators such as Maka91 and Billzumaniti will be your best friends on your journey.

The aforementioned developers are the “big name” easy achievement factories in the Gamerscore community, though there are of course plenty of one-off cheap and easy titles that come from other developers. Below is a list of many of these games, all of which can be purchased from the Xbox One store for less than $7 and completed in under an hour:

  • CAN ANDROIDS PRAY: BLUE Mushroom Quest Asemblance Collection (two titles) Of Tanks and Demons III Retro Tanks Tanky Tanks Aery Inferno 2+ Mr. Pumpkin Adventure MechaNika Evan’s Remains Cubot - The Complexity of Simplicity Jump, Step, Step Stretch Arcade Johnny Rocket Batu ta Batu HardCube Doug Hates His Job Tcheco in the Castle of Lucio

That’s 20000 more Gamerscore and over 200 more achievements to your total. As cheap as many of these games are, it will still require you to spend quite a bit of money if you want to do all of the aforementioned games, though considering this would land you in the Xbox Hall of Fame, it should be of no surprise that some heavy spending will be needed. Realistically, you will not need to do everything on this list in order to place number one in your country, but better safe than sorry!

With that, I wish the best of luck to those choosing to participate. Only the best player will win, and if you want that to be you, lower your game quality standards and free up your schedule. You’re going to need all the time and energy you can muster to claim your spot in the Xbox Hall of Fame.
