The PS4’s last big marquee title, Ghost of Tsushima, is now available to preload. The download and the 3 already released patches are around 40GB, according to SP1st. Those who bought the Digital Deluxe Edition can expect an extra 22GB to download.
What is likely behind the big 22GB file is the director’s commentary that can be played throughout the entirety of the game. The Charm of Hachiman’s Favor, a digital mini art book from Dark Horse, the Samurai PS4 Theme, and a skin set is also a part of the Digital Deluxe Edition. It is selling for $69.99. If you buy the special edition physically, however, it will come with a steel book and everything included with the Digital Deluxe Edition.
This news that SP1st found is exciting, but if you can’t decide to pre-order Ghost of Tsushima or not, reviews for the game will soon be going out as the embargo lifts on July 14th at 7:00 AM PST.
PlayStation also released an EP album on Spotify with remixes of the game’s soundtrack. It’s called Sound of the Storm, and the artists featured are The Glitch Mob, Alessandro Cortini, Tycho, TOKiMONSTA. While it sounds like a bad idea at first with the songs contrasting against the traditional Japanese flair of the soundtrack, the remixes actually sound pretty fresh.
The developer of Ghost of Tsushima, Sucker Punch Productions, has been in the industry for over 20 years with franchises, like Sly Cooper and inFAMOUS, that have each gained a fanbase. This Japanese adventure seems to take this Seattle studio to the next level with a huge open world, stunning graphics, and more detailed combat.
Sucker Punch’s open-world design seems to have evolved with this highly anticipated title. The game’s director Nate Fox stated that it will have upwards of 50 hours of content. He also encouraged players to experience the entirety of the island and not just the main story. Whether or not Ghost of Tsushima will feel bloated with bogged down side missions like the Assassin’s Creed series is yet to be known.
Ghost of Tsushima will be released on the PS4 on July 17th, 2020. So far, we don’t know if the game will get a PS5 upgrade or not. Hopefully, it could be released on PC down the line like Horizon Zero Dawn, so more people can take in this beautiful Japanese landscape and hopefully engaging story.
