The closest thing we’ll ever have to befriending a real Pokémon is having a pet, and now cat-owners can come one step closer to the impossible crossover.
In 2016, Niantic allowed Pokémon fans to venture out into the real world and fulfill their childhood dream of becoming a real-life Pokémon trainer via Pokémon GO. The trouble is, even that isn’t the real thing. It might be as close as we’ll ever get to filling the world with Pokémon, though. Unless society dresses up real animals to look like Pokémon, that is.
We wouldn’t recommend trying to squeeze an elephant into a Snorlax onesie or popping a Houndoom outfit on a wolf, but dressing up a regular house cat – why not? That’s now possible thanks to a bootleg Pokémon company in Japan. As can be seen in the tweet below, the company sells a number of frankly adorable hats for cats to wear in order to look a little bit like their owner’s chosen Pokémon.
Some of the designs available include Vulpix, Eevee, and even Alolan forms of some Pokémon such as Raichu and Meowth. The strangest choice in the offer might well be Mimikyu. Should a cat owner opt for a Mimikyu hat, that would technically mean the feline would be a cat masquerading as a Pokémon masquerading as a Pikachu. One more level of catception and our heads would start to hurt.
