According to an industry insider, we may now know when exactly the Xbox Series X event will take place in July. Fans have been eager for more news about the upcoming next-gen hardware and its games since the digital event that was held this past May.
The company’s digital event in May left fans disappointed after some miscommunication about what to expect from different games appearing on the Xbox Series X. Specifically, the claims of seeing Assassin’s Creed Vallaha gameplay turned into a short trailer offering very little information. However, that May event focused on third-party titles while the scheduled July event is for Microsoft’s first-party games such as Halo Infinite.
In a two-part list of updates on Twitter, Jeff Grubb of Venture Beat laid out back to back tweets featuring dates of upcoming events through the rest of the Summer. Notably, Jeff lists that the Xbox Game Studios reveal will happen during the week of July 20th. This information is backed up by sources at the Video Games Chronicle, who is claiming that the Xbox event will take place on Thursday, July 23. Windows Central Editor Jez Corden has also provided information on Twitter that adds credibility to this claim.
However, living in 2020 has shown us that anything can change at any time and there hasn’t been an official announcement from Microsoft as of now. Although, when it comes to Xbox Series X rumors and reliability, Jeff Grubb’s name gets kicked around a lot even if he likes to keep things vague.
As we enter July, Xbox fans have to be starving for news of their beloved first-party titles. Microsoft has confirmed that fans will see Halo Infinite at this event and it’s looking very likely that fans will see The Initiative’s first game at this event as well. Lately, there has been a lot of speculation as to what The Initiative is working on and have been rumors of a Perfect Dark reboot from the studio have been circulating lately.
With only a few short weeks to go until Xbox fans see what Microsoft has in store for the Xbox Series X event, rumors and speculation are sure to run rampant. Microsoft’s line up for the show remains a big mystery to fans but that makes it all that more exciting. The community is also holding out hope that we’ll see the rumored Xbox Lockhart console during the presentation.
