The holiday season may seem far off, but it’s approaching quickly for businesses. With new iterations of the Xbox console traditionally releasing in November, Microsoft has confirmed games for the Xbox Series X at a rapid pace. However, many more are rumored for its release. To help sort through all the new information, here’s what we know so far.

Rumored Xbox Series X Games
With all the complications that can arise during a game’s development cycle, it can be hard to say with certainty when some games might release. However, we can speculate on what games may come to the Xbox Series X based on the information publishers have given us so far. For example:
- We only know that Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI are in development because of vague teaser trailers Bethesda put out over the past year. However, based on an interview with Bethesda’s marketing director and ZeniMax Online Studios game director, hopeful fans theorize these games may release for the Xbox Series X sometime in late 2020 or 2021 at the earliest. Otherwise, it may not be until 2024 that the official release dates for these games are announced. A trailer for Elden Ring was shown at E3 2019 for the Xbox One without a release date. Since there hasn’t been any new information on the official release date, and the Xbox Series X is coming this year, there’s a chance it may release for the next-gen console instead. If not, it will likely be eligible for Smart Delivery. It’s unknown when exactly Elden Ring will be released, but we can only hope it’s sooner rather than later. FIFA 21 and NHL 21 haven’t been confirmed for the Xbox One X like Madden NFL 21, but it’s very likely they will both make their way onto the console as well.
Other rumored games include those that were originally shown at E3 2019 to be released on the Xbox One in 2020. Once the Xbox Series X releases, these games may be eligible for Smart Delivery:
- Crossfire X - TBD 2020 Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga - October 20, 2020 Minecraft Dungeons Microsoft Flight Simulator - TBD Ori and the Will of the Wisps Phantasy Star Online 2 (Western Release) PsychoNauts 2 - TBD Tales of Arise - TBD 2020 Wasteland 3 - TBD
As the supposed holiday 2020 release date approaches for the Xbox Series X, we’ll know more about what games we can expect to play on the next-gen console.
