With all the changes in the world as of late, gaming has become an incredibly important part of people’s lives, and the next generation consoles releasing in November will only amplify that. Unfortunately, a lot of gamers are struggling financially as well due to current events, but it seems Microsoft has a solution for fans wanting the Xbox Series X.
Now that the Xbox Series X finally has an official release date and price, prospective buyers have started checking their pockets to see if they’ll actually be able to afford buying one. Microsoft recently unveiled a plan to help with this endeavor, citing their dedication to allowing all gamers to play on day one as the reason.
This new plan is called All Access, and should give more players the chance to own an Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S, though the commitment is long. Essentially, this acts as a monthly payment plan, allowing those that can’t outright afford it to still have it on day one.
Players that subscribe to Xbox Series X All Access will commit to making 24 monthly payments. This will allow them to own the console and also give them access to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for the duration of the commitment, though the amount of the payment differs depending on which console the player wants. For the all digital Xbox Series S console, players will need to spend $24.99 a month, whereas the Xbox Series X will see fans spending $34.99 a month. This is much cheaper than the starting price of the consoles, and doesn’t even end up being that much more than buying it outright.
Considering Xbox Game Pass Ultimate typically runs for about $15 a month, players are actually paying around $20 per month for the console ($10 per month for the Xbox Series S). The Xbox Series X launches with a price tag of $499, meaning players will end up paying around the same amount as though they bought it up front. The Xbox Series S will cost players $299, meaning that after 24 months players will have paid even less than the console is worth and get to own it. Of course, this is probably representative of a discount on the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, but it still comes out as a nice deal.
Microsoft claims that access to the next generation of gaming should be available to everyone, a statement that is likely in direct response to Sony’s limited pre-order methods for the PS5. Now that the cat is out of the bag for Xbox, the PS5 may follow suit and finally reveal its price and release date.
The Xbox Series X will be available on November 10th.
