Microsoft has finally released the date of its Xbox Games Showcase, announcing that it will go live July 23 at 9am PT. The early morning show will no doubt get gamers out of their beds at the crack of dawn in anticipation of the Xbox Series X event.

The Summer Game Fest also announced that before the event there will be a pre-show starting at 8am PT on YouTube Gaming, with Producer and Creator of The Game Awards Geoff Keighley. Microsoft has been teasing and promoting the event for a while, ever since its E3 appearance got cancelled along with the entire conference. It is expected that the event will showcase gameplay from the upcoming Halo Infinite as well as some other titles set to accompany the next-gen console on its release day later this year.

Fans of Xbox have already flooded the thread on Twitter with their initial reactions, aptly conveying the gaming community’s massive hype for the event. There was, of course, some controversy met by PlayStation fans who contested with Xbox supporters by saying that the showcase has no chance in prevailing over Sony’s show last month. Other fans were hoping for some more Fable 4 news (teased throughout the majority of this year) as well as an Elden Ring gameplay trailer from Bandai Namco.

The official Halo Twitter account has also told fans to “Get ready” after Xbox published its announcement, intensifying the showcase’s anticipation. Xbox has made a real effort to expand its first-party studio lineup in order to create a greater sense of excitement surrounding the next gen’s console capabilities. The showcase is part of Microsoft’s Xbox 20/20 series that was created when E3 shut its doors for the year. The first event premiered back in May and gave us a first look at Assassin’s Creed Valhalla; likewise, we can look forward to more games of similar stature being unveiled on the 23rd.

Other titles rumored to be among the aforementioned are a Forza Horizon project that is allegedly in development with Playground Games, and a new release from American developers Double Fine that brought us Psychonauts and Brütal Legend. There is also some talk around new studio The Initiative and what it will be revealing during the presentation. Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is expected to debut a second look for fans who were shook to the core after its last atmospheric trailer from Ninja Theory.

Gamers can also look forward to testing some games included in Xbox’s Summer Games Fest demo event.
