The manager of Xbox Game Pass is promising that Microsoft is just getting warmed up for the holiday season, following a number of high-profile additions to the subscription service.

The Xbox Series S/X might not have launched with any exclusives, but they did have a jacked line-up of titles on Game Pass on day one. Game Pass added titles from EA Play to the service when the Xbox Series S/X launched, which meant subscribers had access to titles like Star Wars Jedi: Fall Order. Game Pass subscribers recently received one of the best perks to date, in the form of a free month of Disney+.

Game Pass is due to receive a lot of new games in December, including Control and Haven. It turns out that Microsoft is gearing up for bigger things. According to Game Pass Manager Matt Percy on Twitter, Microsoft is just getting warmed up for the 2020 holiday season.

Game Pass already has a lot of high-quality games, so it will be interesting to see what Microsoft has in store for the service. There have been rumors circulating about Microsoft acquiring a prominent Japanese studio, as the Xbox brand has struggled to break into Japan in the past. It’s possible that an acquisition could be announced soon, and an influx of new titles to Game Pass could be related to the purchase. The 2020 Game Awards are due to take place next week, so that could be the event where Microsoft announces what it has in store for Game Pass during the upcoming holiday season.

It’s no secret that the PS5 is outselling the Xbox Series S/X at launch, but Game Pass is such a great deal that it’s hard to ignore. The fact that Microsoft is offering three months of Game Pass Ultimate for a dollar to new subscribers means that more and more people are going to be brought into the Xbox ecosystem. Sony has hinted that it has a Game Pass alternative in the works, but it will have to be really impressive if it wants to compete with the existing Game Pass library.
