In order to secure his role as Beast, X-Men actor Nicholas Hoult was asked to do a Family Guy impression during his audition. He had been tested numerous times before this on his American accent, but this took things to a different level.
Thankfully, Hoult claims he was a big fan of Family Guy, and had scene the show quite a bit. Because of this, when the future X-Men star was asked to do his best Stewie Griffin impression, he was prepared. Of course, this was made easier because the audition was pre-recorded.
Unfortunately, there are no records of any of Beast’s lines being read as Stewie Griffin, as that would have simply been too awesome it would seem. Still, fans can imagine Hoult reading the character’s lines in this voice, and it is a rather hilarious concept.
It’s unclear whether or not the auditioning directors wanted Hoult to do this because they initially imagined Beast’s voice as being somewhat similar to Stewie’s or whether it was just a funny gag they decided to do, but as fans of the most recent X-Men franchise will know, it seemed to work out in the end, as Hoult starred as Beast in four X-Men movies after this audition.
Hoult plays Beast in the newest X-Men franchise.
