It turns out that WWE superstar Ember Moon’s wrestling persona is inspired by a character from Dungeons & Dragons. Who would have thought!

In a recent interview, Ember Moon revealed which character her in-ring persona is partly based on - Drizzt Do’Urden, the Drow ranger known from the still-running series of fantasy novels by R.A. Salvatore.

Moon is certainly not alone in her love for Drizzt; he’s in fact one of D&D’s most popular characters. Although Drow - or dark elves - had already been popular beforehand, the introduction of Drizzt’s character helped further push the creation of dark elf characters in mainstream play.

I’m a big fan of the Drizzt books from R.A. Salvatore. Drizzt is one of my favorite characters and low key inspires Ember Moon, the wrestling character…I don’t say it a lot, but I love it.

Moon had taken part in this year’s D&D Live event, along with D&D Lead Rules Designer Jeremy Crawford and some fellow WWE superstars. She expressed particular excitement over the fact that her session was set in Icewind Dale, the region wherein Drizzt and his companions started their adventures.

The session was part of a promotion by Dungeons & Dragons for the upcoming adventure book releasing on 15th September this year - Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden.
