Since its 2004 release, World of Warcraft has been all about finding the best gear to finish the game’s hardest raids and best the enemy faction in PvP. Now, thanks to a discovery from a player named Rextroy, it seems as if there was a way to one-shot your opponents without using any gear at all.
This is all thanks to a big change that Blizzard made in the game’s Battle For Azeroth expansion in an effort to give players a fighting chance at PvP without collecting the game’s best gear. With lesser gear, players’ damage is increased a bit to make things a little more fair and competitive.
Rextroy found a way to exploit this new system, discovering that stripping off all of his gear resulted in his damage being increased a whopping 226%. He then added some buffs that provide additional damage, held an item that guarantees a critical hit, and used the Mantid Firebomb grenade to guarantee a one hit kill on his opponents.
As fun as it might be to see naked characters running around and one-shotting other players wearing the best gear, Blizzard has since patched the loophole. Even then, we have to give Rextroy props for their creativity, and we’re interested to see what kind of exploits the player can come up with next.
