Wizards of the Coast is doing their part to support students during the coronavirus pandemic by providing educators and librarians with free Dungeons & Dragons and Magic the Gathering content to engage with their students.

In order to be eligible applicants must be over the age of 18 and work professionally, or be an official volunteer, with children in the United States or Canada. This includes school employees, librarians, leaders in children’s recreation, and scout leaders. Those requesting kits must be authorized to represent their respective programs. People who fit this criteria can request their kit from the Wizards of the Coast customer service request portal.

Each of the educator kits include a Legendary Bundle for D&D Beyond, 30 Magic: The Gathering Arena digital codes, and tips on how librarians and educators can best utilize Wizards of the Coast games with students. The Magic: The Gathering digital codes can be redeemed for three Ikoria booster packs per student account. D&D Beyond is the digital tool to host the D&D 5th edition rules and adventures. It can also be used for character creation, interactive lists of monsters and, more features to improve game play.

The D&D beyond legendary bundle is originally valued at $662.69, making that alone a very generous gift from Wizards of the Coast. This bundle includes every single available rule book and adventure made for D&D and beyond to date. It also includes 15% off future D&D purchases.

Social distancing is hard on children, even more so for children who need structure to thrive. Games of D&D or Magic the Gathering, while in some cases possible to play alone, are inherently social. Playing either game is a great way to structure remote time spent with students. This can give kids the tools to interact and have a good time: two extremely important and difficult things to achieve in these unprecedented times.

This is such a great and kind act of Wizards of the Coast to provide this opportunity for students to expand their imaginations, practice storytelling skills, and spend time connecting with educators and each other through games. For more D&D updates, check back here.
