There is quite a bit happening this week in World of Warcraft, beginning with a close look at what the pre-expansion event will bring to the game after exiting the PTR. While this is subject to change, the current quest is given to players when logging in to report to Genn Greymane at Lion’s Rest in Stormwind. The undead are restless, and in all the chaos, faction leaders for the Horde and Alliance have been captured.
Players will need to rescue Anduin and the other leaders, which will take players back to Icecrown to deal with the undead. Several of the most notable bosses from Icecrown will also spawn around the map at this point as rare spawns and defeating them will earn players level 100 gear drops.
This will act as the catch-up gearing system in preparation for Shadowlands. The content should be easy to handle, and every type of gear can be found in this way, along with a rare 26 slot “Papa’s Mint Condition Bag”.
Another pre-patch event will bring the Scourge invasion to capital cities, where Zombies infect players that will turn into ghouls themselves if they do not speak with an Argent Healer within one minute of being infected.
Blizzard has also revealed more information about the upcoming Adventures feature. This will task players with sending allies to complete missions for the Covenant, and can be handled completely through the WoW Companion App.
Unlike previous iterations of missions from other expansions, there is a greater need for strategy when sending a team of Adventurers out. Positioning of a party is key and completing a mission will provide valuable information about how each unit performs to better plan for future Adventures. Rewards from successful mission include pets, mounts gold, Anima, and more, so they are worth staying on top of.
Lastly, this week brings back the Firelands during Cataclysm Timewalking from August 11 to 18. As always, these Raids are not available through the Raid Finder, so players need to find a group to tackle the challenges ahead. Gear and level are scaled down to be content appropriate, but loot will reflect the current power level in the game.
