Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins reveals that she has “hit the pause button” on development of Wonder Woman 3. While the release of Wonder Woman 1984 has been delayed because of COVID-19, Jenkins comments confirm that the pandemic is also affecting future plans for the series.

Speaking to Total Film magazine (June 2020, issue #299), Jenkins said that she has “really hit the pause button because the truth is, where that plotline was coming from was our state of being six months ago.” The award-winning TV and movie director said that she wants to make sure that she is “totally absorbing whatever the result of this pandemic is.”

Wonder Woman 3 wouldn’t be the only entertainment project to have been affected by current events. Earlier this week, it was revealed that the Brooklyn Nine-Nine team has thrown out season eight scripts as it wants to rewrite episodes of the police comedy following the Black Lives Matter protests. Art isn’t made in a vacuum and it would likely be strange if creators acted like it is.
