Here’s something you don’t see every day: a hawk swooped down and stole someone’s dinner live on stream.
During an IRL streamer in Kyoto, GWENT streamer BeeBoBoop and his wife Sara stopped along the Kamo River to sit and enjoy a meal. As the couple got settled, Sara unwrapped a burrito and started eating. Suddenly, and seemingly from out of nowhere, and hawk swoops in and steals Sarah’s food.
The couple is completely stunned. BeeBoBoop points helplessly at the hawk, asking Sara what it took. Sarah stumbles worth her words, at first saying “It tried to take…” before realizing that it did in fact steal her food.
A passerby witnesses the whole thing and stops to talk to the couple. He isn’t speaking english so we don’t know exactly what he was saying, but he seems to be telling Beebo and Sarah that it’s common for hawks in this area to steal people’s food.
The area along the banks of the Kamo River is a very popular tourist destination in Kyoto. During the summer nearby restaurants will open up their balconies that overlook the river. In the clip, you can see a lot of people sitting on the banks and enjoying the weather. Apparently the local hawks have discovered how easy it is to grab a bite to eat here too.
