The second DLC story add-on for Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, entitled ‘The Diaries of Agent Silent Death,’ has now been released, after first being announced back in November of last year.

As the second post-release installment of the so-called ‘Freedom Chronicles’ season pass, ‘The Diaries of Agent Silent Death’ follows ‘Episode Zero,’ which was available from the launch of Wolfenstein 2 for those who pre-ordered or purchased the season pass, and ‘The Adventures of Gunslinger Joe,’ which was released in December.

This DLC is available for £10, and casts the player as the titular ‘Agent Silent Death,’ former OSS agent Jessica Valiant, as she hunts down the three Nazis who tortured and killed her husband. The Diaries of Agent Silent Death places an emphasis on Wolfenstein 2’s stealth gameplay as the player explores a Nazi-controlled Hollywood in pursuit of her targets. Wolfenstein 2 was highly-rated and well-received by fans at its release, and the game’s DLC has taken a different direction to that of Wolfenstein: The New Order by having the player control a series of new characters rather than the series’ longstanding protagonist, B.J. Blazkowicz.

The Freedom Chronicles do, however, have a decidedly similar aesthetic, echoing the pulp-era style that was used heavily in Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, The New Order’s prequel DLC, albeit with a more modern setting. Although the game lacks multiplayer like its predecessor, The Freedom Chronicles has so far provided a sizable amount of additional single player content since the game’s release last October via The Freedom Chronicles. No doubt Bethesda has sought to extend Wolfenstein 2’s lifespan with regular content releases, as without multiplayer, fans of the game may not feel a reason to return after having completed the game’s story.

The final episode of The Freedom Chronicles, ‘The Deeds of Captain Wilkins,’ will launch in March and will pit players against a Nazi operation in Alaska. It is presently unknown whether Bethesda has any future DLC plans for Wolfenstein 2 following The Freedom Chronicles, although the studio has recently confirmed that the game will be coming to the Nintendo Switch. The Switch release does not yet have a release date, but is expected to be later this year.

Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
