Wolcen Studio recently announced the Chronicle 1: Bloodtrail expansion for its action RPG Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem. The expansion brings with it Patch 1.1.0 that adds in a ton of new content, game balances, and bug fixes.

In fact, there’s so much new and improved content with the Bloodtrail expansion that Wolcen Studio divided the official announcement into three articles and a video trailer. The Wolcen Chronicle 1: Bloodtrail article and the Wolcen Chronicle 1: Bloodtrail - Trailer contain the summary, and the Patch Notes 1.1.0 [Part 1/2 - New Content & Balancing] and Patch Notes 1.1.0 [Part 2/2 - Bug fixing] contain their titled info. Here are the highlights.

Chronicle 1: Bloodtrail introduces the new Chronicles Game Mode that includes a new playable character and a new economy. The other new additions include pets (for the first time), a new Narrative Bloodtrail Event, new Champion of Stormfall Game Mode endgame buildings, a new skill for Ranger/Rogue archetypes, a redesigned Active Skills tree, 70 new Damage Type Modifiers and 40 new minor modifiers added to the Active Skills, and a new Crafting UI. Phew.

According to the summary notes, the new Chronicles Game Mode “will require you to successfully track a Prey and make decisions during your hunt to make it more or less challenging depending on the choices you make.” While following a hunted creature’s bloodtrail, you’ll be given multiple Hunt Choice options to choose from that, according to the video trailer, “will either impact your encounter with your prey, or challenge you with new types of secondary events.” Once you find and slay your prey, you’ll receive the new currency, Hunt Trophies, along with specific items that come with new modifier types. This means you’ll be able to manipulate your Bloodtrail hunts in such a way as to help customize your character with items and modifiers that fully benefit and support your skill tree.

The Champion of Stormfall Game Mode involves the new Narrative Bloodtrail event that has you partnering with Ithain from the Order of Oshara as you seek out the missing Dragon Matriarch. Additionally, the Gate of Fates (skill tree) has been completely overhauled “to give more meaningful upgrades” to gear, and “more meaningful values” to damage numbers.

Also, Wolcen Studio is working with Wolcen-partnered Twitch streamers to offer the new unique (and exclusive?) Time-Devourer Wolf pet through their channels for players who have their Wolcen and Twitch accounts linked.
