By now, gamers are familiar with both The Witcher series and The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. Both games put you in the shoes of a powerful hero who is able to make decisions that impact the lives of those around them. Depending on what type of player is holding the controller, these characters can be kind or cruel.

Both games give players the option to flesh their characters out however they see fit. Both Geralt and Dovahkiin end up saving the world, but which one can make the better decisions? Who is the better hero out of the two characters?

10 Geralt: Started Off The Game With Amnesia

Geralt started off with amnesia after being saved by his daughter Ciri. He was in this position because of his resolve to try and take on The Wild Hunt to protect his family. Geralt, even with no memories, sets off to protect those he cares about and continues to fight monsters.

He doesn’t back down from his calling or try to run away from danger.

9 Dovahkiin: Started As A Prisoner

Dovahkiin didn’t have any memory loss; instead, the game placed him in the back of a cart on the way to his execution. Instead of becoming vengeful when he escaped, Dovahkiin decided to embrace the title of Dragonborn to help defend Skyrim, the country that tried to kill him.

Dovahkiin has every reason to be mad at the country he is in and instead decided to save it.

8 Geralt: Won’t Kill Regular Humans

Despite being a seasoned hunter who has had to face humans. Geralt won’t slay a human without cause. This is a bit surprising given just how discriminatory humans can be towards Witchers. Geralt has had his fair share of bad treatment from humans and seen just how prejudiced they can be.

Even so, he won’t slay a human unless they are leaving him with no other choice.

7 Dovahkiin: Associates With Werewolves

Dovahkiin is a little more open to hanging out with “monsters” than Geralt is. Dovahkiin joins the Companions, where he soon becomes a werewolf. Instead of using this newfound power to cause destruction, the hero decides to help the guild with their cause.

This shows the Dragonborn has more tolerance for creatures that many villagers would try to kill.

6 Geralt: Kills Evil Organizations

Geralt aligns with his Witcher school and tries to keep out of other organizations. That is unless they are plotting something truly evil. Whether it be a gathering of blood hungry vampires or a convention of werewolves, Geralt has no problem taking down evil organizations.

Geralt is more than willing to take on hordes of enemies to protect the people around him.

5 Dovahkiin: Joins Several Good Organizations

Despite all the evil that is in Skyrim, there are still several good organizations you can join like the companions. Dovahkiin is a member of both the College of Winterhold and the Companions, two organizations that want to do good in the world.

Even when evil appears in one of these organizations, Dovahkiin is willing to take it down without hurting anyone else.

4 Geralt: Just Wants To Settle Down

Geralt is tired of monster hunting and having rocky relationships. It’s revealed that he just wants to settle down with the love of his life, far from the everyday violence he has become accustomed to. This isn’t surprising considering the vast amounts of blood he has seen over the years.

Geralt doesn’t yearn for battle; instead, he wants to remove himself from it.

3 Dovahkiin: Builds A Home For Their Family

Dovahkiin tops his adventuring to build a beautiful home for his wife. This does cost quite a bit of supplies and money, but he does it with stride. After the home is built, the hero even chooses to fully furnish it so that his family can live in complete comfort.

This shows that the hero is thinking about the ones he keeps waiting at home.

2 Geralt: Will Do Anything For Ciri

Geralt is more than willing to be killed for the sake of his daughter. He stands up to The Wild Hunt, travels across oceans, and even through different dimensions in order to ensure his child will be able to have a peaceful life.

Ciri is the most important thing to Geralt, and he even considers her to be more of a priority than Yen in which he is bound too.

1 Dovahkiin: Adopts Two Kids

In order to have a family, Dovahkiin decides to seek out children to adopt. The hero could have easily just had a kid of their own, but instead, they chose to adopt. Not only does this help with the country’s serious problem with homeless and abandoned children, but it shows true compassion.

It’s also worth noting that Dovahkiin never harms a child in the game.
