It’s fun to fantasise about what type of fictional characters would be fun to date or which ones would make the best spouses. There are tons of fans who love to analyze how these characters would react in the real world. Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher series is a popular choice for these debates. Many fans think that Geralt wouldn’t be that great of a husband, and have a ton of evidence to support this claim. Below are some reasons that Geralt may not be the man of your dreams. After all, fans already know about his complicated relationship with Yen and Triss.

10 Always Gone

One thing Geralt’s wife should know is that he may not be home that often, in face she may go weeks at a time without seeing him. Witchers travel for miles and miles taking jobs and trying to track down monsters. This keeps them out of the house more than most spouses would like.

Geralt’s lady would surely get lonely while he was at work.

9 May Get Killed

Sadly, withers aren’t completely invincible. One wrong move or misjudged monster and Geralt could end up killed or badly wounded. On top of that he could even be held captive. Having to worry about your husband’s safety every time he goes to work would cause just about anyone to develop anxiety.

Even worse, you won’t even know of his fate for quite some time.

8 Questionable Friends

Geralt has had to make a lot of friends and acquaintances that a proper lady wouldn’t want to be alone with. From the Bloody Baron to Dandelion Geralt has met a wide range of characters over the years. While he may not be so fond of them, it wouldn’t be surprising if they came seeking his help.

Finding random strangers at your door every other day would be annoying.

7 Is Known to Cheat

Geralt has a bad rap sheet for sleeping around with just about any sorceress he could find. Not only that, but it’s no secret that plenty of women in the universe will use their magic to seduce him. Not only do you need to worry about the prowling monster, but the women as well.

Geralt himself has even been known to cheat fully knowing what he was doing.

6 Gets Covered in Blood Regularly

There is no stain removed in the Witcher universe. Geralt gets covered in a lot of blood and monster fluids. This would not only reek, but trying to clean his clothes would be nothing short of a nightmare. Even if you don’t do laundry, no one wants to deal with bloody footprints in the house.

Geralt would create a mess every time he came home.

5 Insensitive

Geralt is a Witched which means that his emotions are a bit numb both from his transformations and the horrible things he witnesses over the years. Geralt probably won’t be able to comfort you when you and your best friend have a fight, in fact he may just suggest you hand out with Roach.

Geralt isn’t the most socially adept man.

4 Attracts Monsters

Monster aren’t just all brainless beans that attack towns, some monsters are sentient creatures that can plot and plan revenge against Geralt. If you are the love of his wife, then you may even find yourself targeted by these cruel monsters.

Some monsters will be a threat to both you and any children you tend to adopt, which can be a scary thought.

3 Attachment to Yennefer

Not only will you have to deal with other women and monster, but you need to know Ciri’s mom Yennefer. Yennefer is hotheaded and probably won’t take yo kindly to you being married to Geralt. In fact, she may even take some of her powerful bouts of anger out on you.

You may need to learn magic in order to survive is ex. If you have played the last game, you should also know just how serious Yen can get.

2 Polarizing Decisions

Geralt doesn’t always make the most moral decisions. You may find that your husband can be downright cruel at times and you will have to live with that. Witchers aren’t heroes and are out to make coin. If a town doesn’t pay enough, Geralt may walk right by as a monster gulps down villagers.

This is just something they have to get used to in their line of work.

1 Has Angered Several Sorceresses

Geralt has a long list of sorcerers and sorceresses he has made angry over the years. Seeing magic thrown at your husband probably won’t be a rare occurrence. The best thing to do is just stay out of any conflicts while hoping that Geralt can come to an agreement with those he angered.

You may even need to be ready for your house to be attacked several times a year.
