If side-scrolling platform games are known for one thing, it’s how well-executed the in-game jumping mechanic handles. But what happens when you take that mechanic away? That’s exactly what players will have to contend with in developer 3S Design’s Wira & Taksa Against the Master of Gravity - an upcoming 2.5D puzzle platformer that doesn’t contain any jumping.
Instead - as the game’s title hints at - players will seemingly control gravity to solve puzzles and overcome each level’s enemies, traps, and other obstacles.
Wira & Taksa Against the Master of Gravity is actually built in 3D, but its side-scrolling presentation is displayed in an orthogonal fashion, which essentially means that the game is full of right angles that are meant to be explored throughout the games five different worlds by knowing when exactly to change up the gravity, and when to use Wira or Taska, specifically.
No doubt, it will probably take veteran platform genre fans a little while to get used to having no jumping mechanic. However, the whimsical, puzzle-laden world of Wira & Taksa Against the Master of Gravity will still likely make them feel right at home when the game releases on Steam Early Access later this year. Those interested can check out an early version of the game right now.
