The developer CD Projekt Red has confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 doesn’t have a morality system, so players will be able to steal cars and bring trouble to Night City to their hearts’ content. However, one of the game’s designers has said that while many players start out the game in GTA mode, they likely won’t stick to the lawless behavior for long.

Cyberpunk 2077 is set in a unique, technologically advanced city where players can have nearly free rain over their actions. With elements of the game detailed down to the 1,000 unique NPCs that can be found throughout the world, there are lots of cool easter eggs Cyberpunk 2077 players can find as they explore. Some of these intricacies may make players think twice about why they shouldn’t rampage through Night City.

Level designer Max Pears spoke out about what many gamers call GTA mode, which refers to the rampant carjacking and reckless immoral actions that players tend to play out in the Grand Theft Auto franchise. While it’s possible to do the same in Cyberpunk 2077 and the level designer said that many play testers defaulted to that behavior initially, they changed their play style as they got further into the game. This is because, while the game doesn’t hold anything against players for going on remorseless rampages, there is so much more to the game that players lose interest in constant chaos.

The Cyberpunk 2077 level designer pointed to the many missions that the game contained. Once players realized so many options were available through these different avenues, they abandoned their lawless frenzies to take advantage of what the game developers laid out for them. To only use Night City’s setting as a focus for GTA-like behavior is fine, but it would be an injustice to all the different options for entertainment that the game provides in a way that has never been done before.

With Cyberpunk 2077 missions revealed, fans are more excited than ever for the game to be available to the public. However, after multiple delays from the developers, players will have to wait until November 19 to experience the game for themselves.

Cyberpunk 2077 will release on November 19, 2020, for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with PS5, Stadia, and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
