Things are rarely ever what they seem to be, and The Witcher 3 is no exception. The game has introduced many intriguing characters both in the base game and the two subsequent DLCs. But not all of them were heroes. Some of them were downright despicable while others were just victims of circumstances - or simply were at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Whatever the case, no villain in The Witcher 3 was entirely the same. Each of them had their own particular set of powers or possibilities that turned them into formidable enemies. And just like they have different characters, they would also have different Zodiac signs.

12 Aries: Birna Bran

Depending on the choices the player makes, Birna Bran’s deeds might go unpunished. Arieses are courageous and determined people by nature. After the death of her husband, the ruler of Skellige, Birna wants the power for herself and her son. She goes as far as to arrange an attack at a feast which results in the death of multiple people - and would bring shame to the an Craite clan, if it wasn’t for Geralt.

11 Taurus: King Radovid V

Even though the game doesn’t portray him immediately as a villain, king Radovid is an awful person. He hates and persecutes all mages, having them executed in a horrible way. Tauruses are known for their persistence and they can achieve many great things, but they have to choose the right path. Radovid doesn’t do this, and as a result, other characters conspire to get rid of him and make the world a better place.

10 Gemini: Emhyr Var Emreis

It’s true that Emhyr var Emreis cares about his daughter Ciri and is willing to sacrifice many resources to find her. At the same time, he’s manipulative and merciless to his enemies. When he sees the need, he executes people with ease. Emhyr is able to stay ahead no matter what the world throws at him, and such adaptability and ability to learn quickly is typical for Geminis.

9 Cancer: Gaunter O’Dimm

He may not look like much when Geralt first meets him - but Gaunter O’Dimm is, in fact, one of the most dangerous villains of the game. He has magical powers but isn’t a mage, more likely a demon.

Cancers are sympathetic and persuasive people with great imagination. Gaunter O’Dimm excels as tricking people. He makes them believe him and then comes up with a creative way how to punish them for the evil they committed.

8 Leo: The Bloody Baron

The Bloody Baron is another character many players feel torn about. A warlord and an alcoholic who hurt his wife - until she snapped and ran away with their daughter as well. But Geralt later learns that his wife also cheated on him. Either way, the Baron can be generous toward people he likes - he takes care of Ciri when she’s wounded. Leos also have a sense of humor and make for lively companions. The Baron can be stubborn from time to time, but he is a somewhat good friend.

7 Virgo: Caleb Menge

The best thing to be said about Caleb Menge is that he’s loyal to his ideals. Loyalty is a typical trait of Virgos. Unfortunately, Menge is also a fanatic who puts his religion above everything else, and enjoys torturing people. Virgos are hardworking people. Menge certainly puts a lot of time and effort into stopping all the mages he believes to be the true evil.

6 Libra: Annabelle

Annabelle’s story is tragic - but that doesn’t change the fact that she’s dangerous and Geralt should stop her instead of letting her go free. After her death, Annabelle has turned into a Plague Maiden, and if she escapes the tower, she will cause the death of many. In life, Annabelle was fair-minded and social. Unlike her father, she believed that there was good in peasants, low-born people. Libras can carry a grudge, and Annabelle proved it once she died and stayed behind as a vengeful spirit, full of anger and heartbreak.

5 Scorpio: Dettlaff

Dettlaff is not a typical villain. In fact, he has many positive character traits. He takes care of Regis when the other vampire is severely hurt, and he natures Regis back to health. Scorpios are resourceful people and they make true friends because they’re loyal.

However, this can also turn against them since they have violent tendencies and lash out. Dettlaff sets his vampires against the city when he discovers that the woman he loved, Syanna, just manipulated him into killing her enemies for him.

4 Sagittarius: Olgierd Von Everec

Olgierd von Everec might not be such as bad guy as others on this list, but he’s far from perfect. He committed multiple crimes, killed his father-in-law and let his wife die alone. On the other hand, Olgierd is a generous man who rewards those who serve him well. Just like people born in this Zodiac sign, he also has a sense of humor and is a charismatic person - proving once again that the world of The Witcher 3 and its heroes aren’t just black and white.

3 Capricorn: Sigismund Dijkstra

Dijkstra poses as Geralt’s ally for most of the game. Old habits die hard, though, and Dijkstra, who used to be a spy, turns around in the end and betrays Geralt and his friends. Dijkstra is one of the most intelligent characters of The Witcher 3. Thanks to his extensive network, he’s a know-it-all, just like Capricorns often are. They tend to expect the worst from people and have good discipline. Dijkstra is suspicious of others, and he keeps himself and his employees in check.

2 Aquarius: Hubert Rejk

The Novigrad coroner Hubert Rejk doesn’t seem like a villain at first - but if Geralt proceeds correctly during the quest Carnal Sins, he’ll discover that Hubert is the real killer, not reverend Nathaniel. Aquariuses have progressive ideas, and Hubert is no exception - he believes that by staging ritual murders, he will make the Novigrad citizens see the light of the true religion. Aquariuses also tend to be uncompromising - Hubert is convinced of his truth, and nothing can change that.

1 Pisces: Syanna

It’s true that Syanna isn’t as artistic as Pisces often are. But what connects her to this Zodiac sign is her tragic life. Pisces are sensitive and trusting people who can sometimes end up as victims or martyrs because of their nature. Syanna’s parents banished her from her home and while she managed to survive, she never knew real happiness. Geralt has the chance to change that and help Syanna reconcile with her sister - or he can let her die, depending on the choices the player makes.
