Do you feel like playing a race that shares traits with your Zodiac type? This list will teach you which races will make you feel just right.

There are a lot of races in Dungeons and Dragons, and players are given total freedom to pick the one they like best to roleplay. Each of the races has a set of personality traits and traditions, but it’s up to the player to follow said set, or to create its own out of their imagination.

To make this list, we did a deep study of common personality traits of both races and Zodiac signs, and we picked each based on how similar they were to each other. Note that while some of the races are seen as naturally evil or good, they all can lean towards the alignment the player feels more comfortable with.

12 Aries - Drow

The Drow were until DnD’s 3rd Edition, the poster boy race of the Chaotic Evil alignment. They are dark skinned elves who live in underground societies. While they aren’t inherently evil, they are born on places where resources are scarce, and they must do what they can to survive no matter the cost.

Arieses, just like the Drow, are impatient and competitive. Due to their rebellious nature, they will feel restrained the moment they can’t do what they want, and won’t think twice to do whatever is needed to regain their freedom. They’re also prideful and hedonistic, just like most Drows are.

11 Taurus - Vampire

Vampires are known for being cunning, talented, intelligent and patient. They live in very organized clans where they just do what they want, specially if it lets then stay on top. Vampires are also vain and very fond of materialistic and superficial pursuits.

People under Taurus like to live on an orderly fashion, as they’re often intelligent, pragmatic and resourceful. But they are also stubborn, possessive and jealous, and isn’t rare for them to be materialistic, traits that are very common among the Vampire race.

10 Gemini - Human

While Humans are often seen as a boring race among DnD players, it’s the most versatile one. They’re flexible and can adapt to any situations, and due to their neutral nature they’re able to change alignments if the correct arguments are presented, unless of course, they are way too invested in their ideals to change them.

Gemini, like the Human race, is very malleable. It’s a sign that’s very hard to pin down due to its flexible and balanced nature. Gemini people are also curious and inventive, which are features very similar to those of the human race in the Dungeons and Dragons setting.

9 Cancer - Avariel

Avariel are a race of winged elves who are very angel-like in appearance. They’re often a force of good, although a tad bit chaotic. Despite looking like angelic beings, Avariel are remorseless in battle, for they won’t give mercy to their enemies.

Cancers are known to be both tough and protective, which are traits shared among the Avariel. People who have Cancer as a sign can be very emotional just like the Avariel, and both view life in a cheerful way.

8 Virgo - Sun Elf

Sun Elves are the most regal of the elves, or at least, that’s what they like to think. They are a patient race known for their love of arts and learning. Their skills in the arts and craftsmanship is very well known, and they were proud of it to the point of haughtiness.

Just like the Sun Elves, Virgos are known for their patience and their analytical nature, and also for the dedication they put on the things they like. But just like the Sun Elves, they can be petty, and it won’t be rare for them to think way too highly of their own skills.\

7 Leo - Aasimar

The Aasimar are a strong race of proud and honorable humanoids of angelic features. Their skin can be of various colors, and they usually descend from angels. Most of them are Lawful Good, and live in lawful societies where they value laws and rules. They respect their own kin and like to form strong bonds with them.

Leos are a lot like the Aasimar, as they are characterized for putting their kin first, and because they often adhere to a strict moral code to the point of being seen as rigid.  Leos, just like the Aasimar, also like to support and protect those they respect, even if it means being way too honest to them.

6 Libra - Tiefling

Tieflings are (lorewise) one of the most misunderstood races of all realms. They have a few fiend-like features due to being far descendants of human who bred or made pacts with fiends. And while Tieflings aren’t evil, they’re often feared by other races due to their unworldly appearance.

Libras and Tiefling, while they aren’t exactly quick to trust others, the few ones they form bonds with will become their friends for life. Due to their rough way of life, Tieflings tend to be impulsive, indolent and insensitive, which are common negative traits among Libras.

5 Scorpio - Githyanki

The Githyanki are a very proud warrior race who used to be slaves to the Illithid. They are loyal to each other and usually don’t care about rules, even Githyanki that live among other races are prone to break their host’s customs. Oh, and they are pretty skilled dragon riders.

Those born in Scorpio are very energetic, self-centered, passionate and focused, and they will do everything they must to advance in life. The Githyanki share similar personality traits, and they both like to be seen as superior by their peers.

4 Sagittarius - Moon Elf

The Moon Elves are tall elves of beautiful skin, which could be either light blue or pale. They are among the friendliest races of all and are very tolerant of humans, to the point where they’re the most common ancestor of half-elves.

Moon Elves and Sagittarians share a distaste for all things that are slow or that lead to loneliness, as both are rather impulsive and friendly. And just like Sagittarians are known to be the “wild child of the zodiac”, the Moon Elves are also known as the most energetic of the Elves.

3 Capricorn - Dwarf

Dwarves are one of the most cherished races among DnD players. They are a bit shorter than humans, but they can weight more in relation to their size. Dwarves are also known to be stout, wise and proud of their customs and traditions.

Dwarves and Capricorns are very alike, as both are often seen as wise, stubborn and very attached to their duties. While they both can form strong bonds with others, they can also be very judgemental and strict with their close ones.

2 Aquarius - Firbolg

The Firbolg are a race of gentle giants who like to spend time in the forests. They have a size of about 10 to 11 feet, although they have the ability to change their size to fit better among other humanoids. They also try to help others, but they’d rather do it anonymously.

Firbolg, just like Aquarians, like to spend time alone doing what they like, but they won’t mind the company of those they can trust, although due to their reclusive behavior they might not be well adapted to social gatherings. They also like to help others without expecting nothing in return, and will look for ways to contribute to their surroundings.

1 Piscis - Githzerai

Githzerai are a race known for sticking way too hard to their ideals. They’re a race of native of the Astral Planes, who fought for their freedom against their Illithid slavers. They value independence and are bound to follow paths and adventures that’ll make them know themselves better.

Piscis and Githzerai would get along rather well, as both are bound to follow the rules and ideas they have imposed upon themselves. They also seek personal freedom, and they don’t like to be restrained nor challenged.
