Sony is finally going to reveal some information about the PlayStation 5 this week. Here’s everything you need to know about the landmark event, including how to watch it.

A lot of projects have been delayed or canceled due to the ongoing global pandemic. However, both Sony and Microsoft continue to insist that the respective releases of their next-gen consoles have not been affected. In both cases, but most notably Sony’s, they might want to start acting like it.

Should the PS5 hit game store shelves in October, that leaves Sony just four months to reveal almost everything about its new console. There has been no official word on price, launch titles, or even what the console looks like. That may all change this Thursday, June 11, during a PS5 gameplay reveal event at which Sony has promised to unveil “the future of gaming.”

As for what will actually be revealed during this event, that remains a mystery. There’s a chance the event comes and goes and gamers still don’t know what the PS5 looks like or how much it will cost. As for the launch titles, with Sony revealing there will be gameplay on show during the event, we’re at least hopeful of that information if nothing else.

Want to know how to get in on the action? There are two ways: either via PlayStation’s official YouTube account, or its official Twitch account. Both of those links are already active, but the stream doesn’t start until 1 pm PT on Thursday, June 11. That’s 4 pm ET, or 9 pm BST for fans in the UK. Sony has reported the event will last a little more than an hour and feature gameplay and trailers for PS5 titles.

As for what else to expect, Sony recommends anyone tuning into the event do so while wearing headphones. A lot has been made of the PS5’s audio capabilities and it sounds like those will be showcased on Thursday as well. Also, due to the fact that the console’s developers have been working from home for the last few months, the event will be broadcast in 1080p at 30 frames per second.
