Call of Duty: Warzone has recently postponed the initial launch of its fourth season in order to not distract from the Black Lives Matter protests happening around the world. While no secondary date has been announced officially, there are reports of leakers revealing the new release date.
This postponement is one of many in the gaming industry due to varying reasons from recent global protests and the ongoing pandemic. While nothing has been confirmed officially, data miners have supposedly discovered the release date of the long-anticipated season. While the release date has been pushed, players should expect the same content previously leaked.
Possible New Release Date
Joe Craven from Dexerto reported that a leaker by the username “TheMW2Ghost” datamined game files and found that the new release date would be “23:00 PST on Tuesday, June 9.” Joe Craven did note that this specific leaker is reputable as having been involved in prior leaks that were accurate. While some players may be cautious of taking one leaker’s word, there have been confirmations from other leaks corroborating the same date and time. While the developers have not confirmed any date, and the supposed date quickly approaching, players just have to wait and see.
Take It With A Grain Of Salt
While these leaks are believable, players should still take this information with a grain of salt just in case the release date is pushed back. There is the possibility that this date could be tentative and a placeholder until an official announcement is made. It would be surprising to see a postponed date longer than a week as publishers have a schedule they want to adhere to, and lack of content updates would mean a player base going over to another battle royale game. However, while players can not be 100% certain, they can have 99% confidence that the new release date is June 9. The worst-case scenario is that the season launch is delayed, leaving players a few more days to practice and raise their K/D. It would be interesting to see if an extended delay could be brought up with the player base if it meant balance and content changes that fans have wanted to see for some time.
