Fans have been waiting patiently for any news on Call of Duty 2020, and it seemed like the big announcement was going to happen today, June 4, during the PS5 game reveal event. However, Sony has decided to delay the PS5 game reveal event in acknowledgement of the Black Lives Matter protests taking place all over the world since the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police officers. With the PS5 game reveal event delayed, it remains to be seen exactly when Call of Duty 2020 itself will be revealed.

However, it seems like a safe bet that the Call of Duty 2020 reveal will still take place during the PS5 games showcase. Events like these usually involve deals that can’t just be broken, and so fans can expect Call of Duty 2020 to still be revealed alongside at the PS5 games reveal event, whenever that takes place.

Sony has not announced a new date for the PS5 game reveal event at the time of this writing. However, it has said that the PS5 game reveal will happen soon, and so fans shouldn’t have to wait all that much longer. It’s possible that the event will take place at some point next week, or maybe even later this month, but it’s hard to see it being pushed back to July. Then again, that may largely depend on how long the Black Lives Matter protests last.

In the meantime, some early Call of Duty 2020 gameplay footage has leaked online, seemingly confirming the game’s Cold War setting. The footage appeared to be of a multiplayer map set in a tank warehouse or factory, though additional details are unavailable at this time. Perhaps Call of Duty fans will get a closer look at this map when Activision does finally decide to pull the curtain back on Call of Duty 2020.

The Call of Duty 2020 announcement delay wasn’t the only Call of Duty-related event pushed back out of respect for the Black Lives Matter movement. Activision also decided to delay the start of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 4, as well as Call of Duty Mobile Season 7.

Call of Duty 2020 is in development for unspecified platforms.
