A superconverged cloud infrastructure is an advanced way of delivering IT resources to data centers. It has been called the “fourth generation” of IT infrastructure. In earlier setups, individual silos of IT capability (storage, switching, routing, processing) were the result of decades of technological development. As data center management matured, it became possible to combine technologies in single boxes, such as multi-service switches, and to continually reduce equipment footprint. In time, physical equipment has been replaced by software through virtualization, and local equipment housing has moved to cloud computing.
