Yet with the advent of Twitch, which focuses on video game live streaming and broadcasts of esports competitions, content creators have gone team purple in greater numbers. With more than 35 million unique visitors a month, Twitch has become the biggest live streaming platform in the world. Yet Twitch may soon face stiff competition from Facebook Gaming, which is growing rapidly....

Earlier this year, not along after The Division 2 was announced, a report circulated that suggest that developer Massive Entertainment had been looking into battle royale modes. Given the recent popularity of games like Fortnite Battle Royale and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, many were quick to believe that the developer was indeed working on such a mode. So, at E3 2018, the game made an appearance during the Ubisoft press conference, but there was no mention of said battle royale mode....

Given the fact that nearly 16 months have passed since the last episode of The Mandalorian dropped on Disney+, fans will be quick to say “This is the way” to any bit of hopeful news. Chris Robert’s Wing Commander series is considered by many to be a seminal sci-fi/flight sim franchise. But it’s been years since the Wing Commander series spawned a new game, so a re-release of one of the older Wing Commanders will have to do. World of Warcraft: Shadowlands will see the returns of many villains and heroes from Warcraft’s past. The game will take players to the different realms of death itself, and Blizzard has been building up to the release of the game by releasing animated shorts covering each of the 4 main regions of the Shadowlands which will become available in-game. The latest short, Shadowlands Afterlives: Revendreth, was just released. It is narrated by the leader of the Venthyr, Sire Denathrius, as he delivers a cruelly ironic speech to his citizens regarding the anima drought....

As the load on Xbox Live increases, while people stay home, Microsoft has been forced to turn off some functionality, as custom gamerpics for Xbox profiles have been temporarily shut off. Xbox Live profile gamerpics have historically been customizable since 2017 and avatars customizable for some time; players could upload photos or make their own to customize their profiles using the Xbox apps. Unfortunately, as with anything customizable, these images have always needed to be moderated by a combination of algorithms and real people to ensure that the content of the images doesn’t break terms of service....

Last week, Microsoft revealed the Xbox Series X retail box, and now the Xbox Series S retail box has been unveiled as well. The Xbox Series S retail box seems to be much smaller than the Xbox Series X box, which makes sense, as the console itself is a fraction of the size. In fact, Microsoft has called the Xbox Series S the smallest Xbox ever. The Xbox Series S box art prominently displays the large, circular vent on the front of the machine, alongside a white Xbox controller....

Call of Duty: Warzone has recently postponed the initial launch of its fourth season in order to not distract from the Black Lives Matter protests happening around the world. While no secondary date has been announced officially, there are reports of leakers revealing the new release date. Xbox boss Phil Spencer teases Project Scorpio progress on Twitter, saying he’s ‘really happy’ with what the teams have been able to do with the console so far. For the bulk of the last few years, Microsoft has struggled to keep up with Sony when it comes to console sales. A new tease has surfaced on the official Xbox Game Pass Twitter that is offering clues to the next big title to be added to the service. The tease comes in the form of a “leaked” email from a Melissa McGamepass (a totally believable name) who is the Executive Senior VP Lieutenant of General Video Game Communications at Microsoft. While the email only offers some vague clues, they all seem to point to Remedy’s Control being the next game to surface on the service....

Microsoft has today announced the wired headset that was initially packaged alongside the Xbox One will no longer come with the console. The chatting device, which Microsoft recently said is essential to the online experience, will now be sold separately. Historically, most of the Xbox 360 SKUs have included some type of headset for online chatting. They may have been cheaply made, but they got the job done. When asked why they decided to pull the wired headset from Xbox One boxes, Microsoft’s official statement pointed to the new Kinect sensor as the only microphone gamers will need....

The Xbox Series X/S has been out for almost a week and according to Microsoft, it is already outselling its predecessors at launch. This is despite the machine being notoriously difficult to get a hold of unless you’re willing to pay extortionate prices on eBay. Unfortunately, the consoles have launched without any game that has been designed specifically for the machines like Demon’s Souls was for the PlayStation 5.
