Although the Assassin’s Creed franchise tries its best to serve as a time capsule for a specific historical period, it’s still a piece of entertainment at the end of the day. With that comes the freedom to bend history to make it either fit within the confines of a particular story or simply too make it more interesting, and that’s exactly what Ubisoft did with Assassin’s Creed Unity. While, by and large, the Assassin’s Creed Unity story tries to adhere to the French Revolution’s history as best it can, the development team did take some artistic license in a few places....

Reddit user Magister Organi has recently been studying Elden Ring‘s song lyrics in order to try to better understand both what they mean and what language they are actually in. In the process, they have uncovered not only some fascinating facts about the game’s soundtrack but some interesting tidbits about the origins and significance of Elden Ring creator Hidetaka Miyazaki’s often confusing style of storytelling. “Most of the lyrics are just computer-generated syllables sung by a Hungarian choir, very few were written, like the song of the bats and originally the final battle song lyrics,” Organi says via a recent Reddit post....

World of Warcraft players have confronted many powerful and awe-inspiring creatures over the years, but none were as resilient as the Murloc race. These amphibious foes first appeared during Warcraft 3’s story and have returned in nearly every WoW expansion since. The iconic status of Murlocs has made them unofficial mascots of Warcraft, and Blizzard has even allowed players to obtain smaller individuals as pets over the years. While most Murloc pets were part of Blizzcon or other special promotions, a select few can be found in-game by completing difficult tasks....

Blizzard has confirmed that they have decided to delay the release of World of Warcraft‘s Shadowlands expansion. “I wanted to let you know that we’re delaying the release of Shadowlands to later this year—and while we’re still in the process of determining the right new date to launch, we felt it was important to let you know about this change in plans as soon as we could,” says John Hight, Executive Producer of World of Warcraft, via a recent blog post....

World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade Classic is finally here, and unless Blizzard has figured out something about server overload that the rest of the video game industry hasn’t, the return of one of WoW‘s most popular expansions ever will likely also mean the return of server issues that prevent some from playing the game. Server problems are essentially the cost of doing business for those who love to play online games, but knowing that doesn’t make it any less frustrating to learn that you can’t actually play your favorite game because the servers that run it just aren’t working....

The World War Z video game was first announced at The Game Awards 2017, and since then it has been favorably compared to Left 4 Dead. Now that the game is out in the wild, first impressions seem to be mostly positive, with some reviewers saying that the game succeeds in scratching that Left 4 Dead itch. However, the World War Z launch hasn’t been perfect, with the game suffering from numerous issues at launch, including a crashing bug that seems to be impacting all platforms....

Following the tragic news of the passing of River, the real-life dog and model for Fallout 4’s dogmeat, Xbox and Bethesda have donated $10,000 to the Humane Society. Since the original Fallout, Dogmeat has become as synonymous with the series as the Brotherhood of Steel and the Vault Boy. As such, it was quite a shock to the internet when River, the model behind Fallout 4’s iteration passed away. To honour River’s passing, Xbox announced through Twitter that it would be donating $10,000 to the Montgomery County Humane Society....

Today’s Game Pass updates have been a long time coming. Xbox Cloud Gaming entered limited beta back in April for select Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, and just last week, players saw noticeable improvements to load times on mobile. Today, Microsoft announced that Xbox Cloud Gaming is now available on PC and Apple devices via browser to Ultimate subscribers in 22 countries. What’s more, it confirmed that servers across the country have indeed been upgraded with custom Xbox Series X hardware....

The biggest announcement of the March 8th Nintendo Direct, by far, was a trailer showing the Nintendo Switch will be receiving a Smash Bros. game in 2018. The trailer premiered at the end of the Direct that also announced a new Mario Tennis and Kirby Switch game, more details about the upcoming Captain Toad, and several other games. Ever since 1999’s Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 64, the likes of Mario and Link have been duking it out with assorted power-ups in Nintendo-themed levels....

The idea of a phone with Coca-Cola branding slapped onto it might not sound like something that many people want. But that isn’t stopping it from happening, according to a new report. There have been rumours of some sort of Coca-Cola collab for a while, but a new leak claims to confirm that it’s launching - and launching soon. So long as you happen to live in India. That’s according to leaker Mukul Sharma who took to Twitter to say that the Coca-Cola-branded phone will launch this quarter, meaning we’re going to see it pretty soon....

Epic Games’ new console MOBA, Paragon, will be free-to-play when it’s released, but anyone who wants to play now will soon be able to buy their way into the beta. Paragon is a third-person action-oriented MOBA developed by Epic Games (creators of Unreal Tournament and Gears of War) for the PlayStation 4 and PC. It has been in beta for some time now, granting access to batches of those who signed up on Epic’s website....

Even though Majora’s Mask had a tight and restrictive development cycle of a single year, it would be wrong to call the game rushed. While a fair amount of content was ultimately removed from Majora’s Mask, the game is still a comprehensive & complete vision with no glaring gaps– much like Ocarina of Time. Both Ocarina of Time & Majora’s Mask had cut content, but they felt like complete Zelda games– not so for The Wind Waker....

Battlefield 4, powered by the latest version of DICE’s Frostbite game engine, has been in public beta for weeks (impressions video up top) and for console players testing out the PS3/Xbox 360 versions (i.e. the limited versions), there’s been a little confusion for Battlefield veterans over the change in the controller button layouts. Before George A. Romero passed away in 2017, the legendary filmmaker was working on a novel — his first — called The Living Dead.
