A cultural icon, grandfather of the superhero myth, and symbol for justice, Superman can do just about anything except for catching a break in the video game medium. While other popular comic book characters successfully made the jump over the years, with Marvel’s Spider-Man and the Batman: Arkham Knight hitting big sales numbers, the man of steel just can’t seem to fly as high. Past efforts have all had middling degrees of success like the movie tie-in game for Superman Returns, which did an okay enough job considering its nature....

Since its release back in 1998, Nintendo’s Buck Bumble has been almost entirely lost to time… except for its theme song. If you look up anything about the game, you’ll see a long list of posts about people remembering how great the theme song is and wanting to know who it’s by. And it’s true—the theme song is great. It takes approximately three seconds of listening to the opening song for it to be repeating in my head for the next few months, and I’m surprisingly okay with that....

The Windranger has long been one of the more versatile characters in Dota 2. Now, thanks to a new Arcana Bundle made available through the current Battle Pass—The International 10 Battle Pass—players who enjoy gaming as Lyralei the Windranger can access a whole slew of brand new features. The Arcana Bundle, called “Compass of the Rising Gale,” expounds on Lyralei’s backstory as an orphan, connected to the element of the wind....

We haven’t really covered Witchfire around these parts, and that’s a crying shame. It’s an upcoming first-person shooter from Polish indie devs The Astronauts, a team of nine founded by former People Can Fly alums Adrian Chmielarz, Michał Kosieradzki, and Andrzej Poznańsk. These are the same folks that brought us such gems as Painkiller and Bulletstorm, and also helped Epic make the Gears of War series. They broke up from People Can Fly in 2012 to pursue their own passions, starting with 2014’s adventure horror game The Vanishing of Ethan Carter....

Patient World of Warcraft players are soon to be rewarded as Blizzard has now announced the quickly approaching release date for the massive Rise of Azshara update. A Rise of Azshara beta has been in Blizzard’s PTR test environment since mid-April, giving players plenty of time ensure that patch 8.2 is ready to go live in World of Warcraft. The testing is at its end it seems, as Alliance and Horde alike will take to battle against the Naga queen’s forces starting June 25....

Xbox Game Pass is having one heck of a week. Not only did Ori and the Will of the Wisps, the sequel to the 2015’s Ori and the Blind Forest, launch on the platform, but two additional great games have been released since. Both Pikuniku and the State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition are now available for Game Pass subscribers on both PC and Xbox One. Pikuniku is an indie game that likely went unnoticed by many, having launched in early 2019....

Rainbow Six Siege and Dirt 5 have been made available to download and play as part of Free Play Days on Xbox until March 21 and March 24, respectively. Players seeking to take advantage of this opportunity must be Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members and have until 11:59pm PT on the respective days. Ubisoft Montreal’s 5v5 tactical shooter has seen success since its late-2015 debut and players can expect tight and destructible environments....

We can’t say it’s the ceremonial unveiling of the Xbox One dashboard we had hoped for, but thanks to an online leak, gamers can see the user interface for Microsoft’s next console in action. Strongly styled after the Windows 8 ‘Metro’ visuals - a series of tiles that were already seen impacting the most recent incarnation of the Xbox 360’s dash - the new dashboard functions largely as it was shown to in the company’s first reveal, and confirming which features are already a reality....

Xbox might stop using digital download codes with future game bundles. Microsoft recently released a new Xbox One X bundle with Cyberpunk 2077. The game itself isn’t due out for a few months, but that hasn’t stopped Microsoft from creating a Cyberpunk-themed Xbox One that comes with a digital copy of the game when it eventually does release. I have easily logged over 1,000 hours in Skyrim over the last nine years. I still distinctly remember trying to manage save files for three or four characters when I returned to the game a few years ago, and accidentally deleting my entire save data for a level 67 battlemage - hundreds of hours, gone in an instant. I don’t remember this with gritted teeth, though - oddly enough, saying goodbye to one character in Skyrim is the perfect grounds for creating a new one....

At Blizzconline 2021, Blizzard announced something many fans had been anticipating since the release of World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade Classic. As an expansion to the vanilla game, players can choose to continue to the new content or remain on Vanilla servers when The Burning Crusade Classic is released later in 2021.
