Some recent backlash over Unravel’s place in the gaming industry causes one staff member to wonder why some people are so hesitant to let games be entertainment. One of my favorite games in recent memory is Telltale Games’ Tales From The Borderlands series. That is in spite of the fact that I’m one of the first who will admit that Telltale Games formula behind the way they design each of their titles is becoming, to me at least, a little stale as time goes on....

The Coronavirus pandemic has led to a widespread cancellation of events across the globe from the Tokyo Olympic Games to the fan-favorite annual video game convention, E3. To avoid putting the health and safety of its staff at risk, Microsoft has announced it will be switching to all-digital events through July 2021, meaning fans should expect a far different approach to Xbox Series X announcements than previously seen from the company....

The synopsis continues, “Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. For the last few seasons, Destiny 2 players have been hoarding bounties in an attempt to get a leg up on the competition. Because there is typically a race to hit the power level cap or to gain an advantage in the World First raid race, any extra XP that players can unlock quickly is valuable. So players spend the last few weeks of each Destiny 2 season completing bounties but not turning them in – a process commonly referred to as hoarding....

In the game industry, controversy doesn’t always mean failure. For instance, Star Wars: Battlefront 2 was riddled with criticism on release. Many players were angry with EA’s monetization plans and accused the company of selling power in this competitive shooter. Even so, the game had a pretty successful launch, selling 9 million copies in only two months. That goes to show that there’s some merit to the adage that all publicity is good publicity....

Pre-ordering a game is a bit of a double-edged sword. On the one hand, you support a dev team you like by giving them revenue before they’ve even shipped a game - you also often receive some nice cosmetic bonuses or a special mission. On the other, there’s no real telling what state that game will be in when it finally comes out. I’ve personally been burned by pre-orders a couple of times....

Thanks to the disruptive effects of COVID-19, individuals in Hong Kong unable to protest the government in public are taking their grievances online by continuing the protest in the game Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Hong Kong has joined many other countries in instituting a strict lockdown preventing people form congregating in public places under any circumstances. Given the concern of catching the virus and the violent measures being taken to prevent that spread according to reports of police brutality by Quartz, protestors in Hong Kong have resorted to using Animal Crossing to continue fighting for independence....

The much anticipated unofficial World of Warcraft Burning Crusade legacy server Felmyst was shut down by Blizzard just hours after its official launch. Developer Gummy has said that he was in the middle of upgrading the Felmyst servers, which were struggling under a launch day wave of players, when a cease and desist order was hand delivered. Blizzard lawyers demanded an immediate shutdown of Gummy’s server, and with the server just five hours into its existence he complied....

For nearly 2 weeks, World of Warcraft: Shadowlands players have explored many new zones and helped out each of the four World of Warcraft covenants that rule the afterlife. But on December 8th, Castle Nathria will finally open up, allowing heroes to venture into the expansion’s first raid and bring justice to several villains responsible for the Shadowlands’ current predicament. MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD. Within the halls of Castle Nathria, players will battle against ten terrifying bosses as they explore the Transylvania-inspired citadel....

Despite being smack in the middle of the biggest holiday games season ever, some players can’t help but look to the horizon in an effort to see what’s coming next. Those very players have had quite a bit to ponder recently, thanks to a near constant stream of rumors and speculation about Microsoft’s next game console, widely referred to as Xbox 720. Many in the industry expect Xbox 720 to launch in the Fall of 2013....

When official sources don’t provide, fan designs fill in the gaps, and these unofficial creations can be absolute visual treats. One person’s combination of Cyberpunk 2077 and the Xbox Series S is a seriously cool example of what passionate fans can make. The Xbox Series S release is just around the corner, and Cyberpunk 2077 is slated to come out a little over a week later. Fans already have a lot of information about the Xbox Series S specs and performance, but so far the only officially released images of the Xbox Series S and X have been in standard black and white color schemes....

The games industry is well on its way to complete Netflixication, and while that may scare some people, it does mean that subscribers to services like Xbox’s Game Pass can look forward to ever-growing libraries of games to play. This month, users will be granted access to a healthy dose of new titles, including the many-years-in-the-making Microsoft exclusive game Crackdown 3. Of course, Terry Crews’ video game debut isn’t the only thing fans should be looking forward too....

Microsoft is partnering with Asus, Phillips, and Acer to create some new monitors specially designed to get the most out of the Xbox Series X|S. Announced on Xbox Wire earlier today, all three monitors are being created specifically for next-gen Xbox consoles and will include a number of features to “unlock the true power” of the Xbox Series X. First up is the 28 inch Acer Xbox Edition Gaming Monitor which supports 4K at 120Hz and HDMI 2....

The launch of the Xbox Series X marked the fourth iteration of Xbox consoles, and the platform has certainly come a long way since the release of the original Xbox. For a time, Yu-Gi-Oh! never even had Archetypes. It wasn’t until the release of Gravekeeper’s in Pharaonic Guardian when they would become official. An Archetype is a series of Monsters that go together, and are usually referred to in cards by listing the Archetype name in quotations. Over the course of Yu-Gi-Oh!’s history, Archetypes have evolved into being the main way to play the game. With a game that has been going on for so long and still getting consistently updated, there are hundreds of Archetypes available in the game....

Zack Snyder’s Justice League goes from strength to strength the more the four-hour feature progresses. The set pieces of epic proportion, depictions of god-like characters, and one powerful score pulsated throughout the Snyder Cut, and while its opening sequence emitted this strength too, it also unlocked the film’s plot. Superman’s death is revisited in the prologue of Justice league, picking up from the conclusive battle in Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice from 2016....

Pokémon GO’s first Incense Day back in April was such a success that Niantic has decided to hold a second one later this month. Ever since it became clear that people weren’t going to be allowed to leave the house very much, Niantic has been hard at work making sure Pokémon GO remains playable, and things have been going well so far. Between allowing trainers to compete in Battle League without having to walk first, the addition of Remote Raid Passes, and everything else Niantic has done so far, Pokémon GO might be better now than it has ever been....
