The newest expansion for Blizzard’s critically acclaimed MMORPG, World of Warcraft, finally has a release date, and it is earlier than expected. World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth will be rolling out on August 14th of this year, and is available for pre-order now. In Battle for Azeroth, players will be able to visit the new continents of Kul Tiras and Zandalar, recruit new Allied Races, enjoy exploring uncharted territory in Island Expeditions, represent their factions on the Warfront, and customize their armor with new powers and traits, amongst other things....

Microsoft’s E3 press conference is over, and while fans got a good look at a bunch of upcoming games, Xbox’s Game Pass service appears to be the real star of the show, as the page has gone down completely following the conference. It may be frustrating for fans, but it does mean that Microsoft can likely expect a fresh influx of Game Pass subscribers. Microsoft dedicated a healthy portion of its show to the service as well as the new Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, which bundles Game Pass, for both console and PC, with Xbox Live Gold for $14....

New releases and old favorites have their prices slashed, as Microsoft kicks off a massive week-long sale across titles for the Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows 10. Microsoft has launched its annual Xbox Ultimate Game Sale for 2016. This year, there’s a wide variety of titles on offer, ranging from recent additions to the backward compatibility list to new releases that only hit shelves a matter of weeks ago....

XCOM fans were taken by surprise when Firaxis announced a new XCOM title just ten days before it was actually released. Titled XCOM: Chimera Squad, this follow-up focuses much more on small-scale encounters than saving the world from alien incursion. Many were skeptical of its proposed changes, ranging from a new turn order system to the Breach mechanic. The changes Chimera Squad made are certainly controversial, but they are meant to counter issues from previous entries such as alpha-striking and alien pods....

That is not the case with “Unknown Factors.” This episode is where they stop getting away with it. Weirdly enough, we’re running fewer plots than normal this week. After last episode’s revelation about Granny Goodness being part of the war in space, Nightwing and Black Lightning bring their loaner motherbox and go to her penthouse to check it out....

Last month, we were hit with the shocking news that Microsoft’s streaming platform and Twitch rival Mixer was being shut down, putting a large number of streamers effectively out of business, among them being Fortnite streamer Ninja. Granted, given Ninja’s fame and success, he was bound to find a new platform to stream on eventually, and it looked like that platform would be YouTube, with his latest stream seeming to indicate that it would serve as his new home....

The Yu-gi-oh! trading card game has a wildly successful and popular competitive scene. Tournaments have pushed people to create the most powerful decks with the most powerful cards. Konami has, of course, fed the desire for new, stronger cards with each card set they’ve released, but this supply also created the need for a ruleset that balances and limits the use of cards deemed too powerful. This is why there has been a ban list for the official tournament scene for almost the entire existence of the competitive formats....

San Francisco-based social online games giant Zynga has been taking a lot of heat as of late from gamers and competitors for allegedly copying (or “cloning”) other games. Zynga’s upcoming Bingo title which is currently in beta, was called out for being overly similar to the hit Facebook game Bingo Blitz, and more recently, their mobile game Dream Heights generated a storm of controversy for utilizing identical game mechanics and gameplay from indie game, Tiny Tower....

What Does Out of Band Mean? The phrase “out of band” in IT refers to activity that occurs outside of a specific telecommunications frequency band. This phrase is used in different ways to talk about different kinds of multichannel messaging or multichannel signaling. Techopedia Explains Out of Band In telecommunications, out-of-band signaling provides more sophisticated models for sending signals over the public switched telephone network or another network. IT professionals can also use the term “out of band” generally to talk about a message that is not included in a particular channel, for instance, where there may be an implicit understanding between two parties that is not deliberately broadcasted over a particular data transfer line....

One of the industry’s most anticipated video games of 2012 is Rockstar’s return to the controversial and beloved Grand Theft Auto series with GTA V. The long-awaited game was officially announced in October, a rather odd time to tease games for the following year, considering the amount of high profile releases occupying the industry and players’ time in October and November. But with the Grand Theft Auto V trailer and ensuing rumors making headlines around the world, the game earned everyone’s attention and now we wonder when we’ll get to play it....

Brewing potions in Terraria can admittedly be a somewhat complicated process, but mastering the ins and outs of alchemy will give players an undeniable edge when tackling new bosses. As such, ingredients like the Moonglow come especially in handy, but can be difficult to find at times. Moonglow is used in several potions in Terraria, so it will be in players’ best interests to find this important ingredient. Of course, the next step is to create a Moonglow farm so that more and more potions can be created with this herb....

Unlike the certain perpetuity of the core Battlefield franchise, DICE’s Battlefield: Bad Company series exists in a state of perpetual uncertainty. Since Battlefield: Bad Company 2 released in 2010, boasting magnificent multiplayer and a stirring second chapter in the saga of its misfit-outfit namesake, fans of the series have been on standby for an announcement of Bad Company 3. A glimmer of hope for 2013 flashed by this May - a trio of developer resumes listed “prototype feedback” work with the game - but this week’s confirmation of Battlefield 4 as the next Battlefield release has placed Preston Marlowe on the back burner for the foreseeable future....

With Xbox’s recent acquisition of ZeniMax Media, Bethesda Softworks has officially become a part of the Xbox family. As Bethesda titles arrived on Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft confirmed that five of them would take advantage of the Xbox Series X/S’s FPS Boost capabilities. Since the Xbox Series X/S consoles feature increased performance, the backward compatibility team at Microsoft developed FPS Boost, which would double or even quadruple the frame rate for select legacy titles....

The recently revealed Final Fantasy “pixel remasters” are already causing a surprising amount of controversy over the one element of these classic games you’d think would be impossible to get wrong: their font. See, Square Enix says that these remasters are intended to visually reimagine the original Final Fantasy games through “universally updated 2D pixel graphics” that deliver “timeless stor[ies] told through charming retro graphics.” While it’s certainly a little strange to suggest that retro games need to be updated with retro graphics, the basic idea is that the company is trying wants to use modern 2D pixel art technology to upgrade the look of the first six Final Fantasy adventures while maintaining their original ar styles as much as possible....

There are plenty of video games that mash together several eclectic sensibilities to form something unexpectedly special, but the Danganropa series is one of the best examples of how to make this level of chaos work. The quirky series riffs on slice of life and high school genres, only to flip the idea of success and competition into a bizarre murder mystery that involves giant teddy bears and so much more....

There’s no doubt that Solas, also known as the Dread Wolf, is being hyped up as the main antagonist of Dragon Age 4. His true identity was revealed at the end of Dragon Age: Inquisition, as was his plan to tear down the Veil between the world and the Fade in the hopes of restoring the ancient elven empire. However, there is a strange disconnect between Solas’ broadly sympathetic portrayal in Inquisition and its DLCs and the villainous depiction of Solas in Dragon Age 4’s marketing material....
