2021 marks the 80th year since Wonder Woman first made her debut as part of DC Comics. Since then, the character has become one of the all-time greats in superhero stories and is one of the most popular female superheroes in modern history. So, DC wants to make the event a celebration to remember with a global, multi-month campaign titled “Believe in Wonder.” The event begins with International Women’s Day on March 8th and will continue until October 21st, which the company has dubbed “Wonder Woman Day....

From the first day World of Warcraft became available to play, even pre-launch and into the game’s beta, its Alliance vs. Horde faction war has been core to the MMO’s experience. It’s ingrained in World of Warcraft’s story as well as gameplay systems. Yet, with each expansion, it’s also something players are increasingly requesting be dismantled. It’s perhaps time to end the faction war. While Blizzard has so far made no such movement, it’s now looking like the possibility is at least being considered....

Blizzard drops Patch 7.1.5 onto World of Warcraft’s live servers, introducing a bevy of class and profession changes as well as new features like “micro-holidays.” Blizzard teased most of the major features for World of Warcraft’s Patch 7.1.5 last week via a Survival Guide trailer that gave players a rundown of what to expect from the patch. Additions to the 12-year-old MMO include everything from Mists of Pandaria Timewalking to the creation of “micro-holidays” as well as an update to the Brawler’s Guild....

One of the most exciting new feautres being added to World of Warcraft in its upcoming Shadowlands expansion is Covenants. Players will be able to join a Covenant of their choosing, with each Covenant offering a unique story, rewards, and even abilities. But players have been stressing out over Shadowlands’ Covenants, as Blizzard decided initially that World of Warcraft players wouldn’t be able to switch after choosing. However, Blizzard now appears to be reconsidering that choice....

One of the biggest tech acquisitions of the last few years with implications for the video game industry is that of Microsoft buying Skype for a hefty $8.5 billion. Windows Phone already takes advantage of the app and with Xbox 360 utilizing Kinect video already, it’s a natural home to be for the service as well - especially for seamless cross-platform communications. Microsoft has bigger plans for the service long-term however, and Skype could have a substantial role in video games themselves come time for the Xbox 720 (codenamed Durango)....

A day removed from Sony announcing the free PS Plus Games for August 2020, Microsoft has now announced the free games that Xbox Live Gold subscribers can look forward to in August. Next month, fans can claim two free Xbox One games for their digital collection, along with two games for the original Xbox. In a change of pace, there are no Xbox 360 games as part of the free Games with Gold for August 2020....
