Every month, from mid-2010 until the beginning of 2019, the PS3 had anywhere between two-to-four free games provided to players for “free.” Thanks to PlayStation Plus, prior to it being a required service to play games online, subscribers would receive a range of “free-to-own” titles available for a limited time each month. While now this is common practice between PlayStation and Xbox’s monthly subscriptions, back then it was a novel idea of giving certain titles more exposure to players....

Very few franchises have the staying power of Silent Hill. Many entries in that horror series are considered to be some of the scariest games ever made. Despite its legacy, though, the series’ sales have historically fallen well short of those of its main genre rival, Resident Evil. In September, Warner Bros. announced the theatrical release of Wonder Woman 1984 was being postponed until Christmas day 2020. Last month, Blizzard pushed a patch to the World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth alpha that added several abilities to the global cooldown, or the GCD. But since then, the WoW community has been agitated about how slow the game feels post-update. Players won’t have to deal with this sluggishness for long, though, because World of Warcraft’s game director, Ion Hazzikostas, said in a Q&A that the developers are going to be reworking these cooldowns....

Soon players will be able to take part in a different format. The experimentation with different avenues of entertainment is a good idea on WWE’s part. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has posed many problems for the organization. On top of live shows being canceled and matches postponed, some wrestlers have come down with the disease....

Xbox Live Gold subscribers have four new games to look forward to in November, including Dungeon Siege 3 on Xbox 360 and Pneuma: Breath of Life on the Xbox One. October’s Games with Gold games were somewhat disappointing, as Microsoft really only offered subscribers three distinct games for free download. However, those disappointed with last month’s offerings should be happy to know that there will be four different games to download in November, and all appear to be of decent quality....

Microsoft announces Xbox Play Anywhere, a feature which will give players both an Xbox One and a PC digital version of supported games when purchased, with synchronized saves. Completing substories in Yakuza 0 is a great way to earn yourself some fairly decent rewards but they also offer some hilarious or sometimes touching little moments that you would otherwise miss. As Yakuza 0 is split between Kiryu and Majima, each have their own unique substories to take part in. Miracle In Maharaja (Substory #23) is one of Kiryu’s substories, which follows on from the Miracle on Tenkaichi Street (Substory #12)....

This Young Justice: Phantoms review contains spoilers. Young Justice Season 4 Episode 5 I’m a little bit concerned by how much the newest season of Young Justice is dragging. We’re about a fifth of the way through and it’s still not at all clear what this season’s story is, and while we’ve had some nice character moments (for Tigress now, after four episodes on Mars with Beast Boy, Miss Martian, and Superboy), there’s not enough happening to feel like the time investment has been justified....

As part of a cash-and-share deal announced Monday, Zynga will acquire Peak Games for $1.8 billion in the third quarter of 2020.
