Wolfenstein: Youngblood is out now, and it offers microtransactions that let players quickly buy several in-game items with real money. So far, the number of things that players can buy with gold bars is limited to cosmetics only, which doesn’t affect the difficulty of the game at all. Gold bars are the only in-game currency in Wolfenstein: Youngblood that can be purchased with real-world money. Other currencies include silver coins and ability points, both of which are obtainable by playing the game....

A full level of Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus is available for fans to watch, in which B.J. Blazkowicz plans out and delivers a nuclear device to Nazi command within Area 52. The bulk of the video has no voice over so viewers get the full Wolfenstein 2 experience. There’s a healthy mix of cut-scene cinematics and guns-blazing action, and even a bit of stealth halfway through. Fair warning, the player has a relatively casual skill level and seems to be playing at a low difficulty....

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands altered a lot about the 16-year-old game. Players now have access to the afterlife of Azeroth, along with Covenants like the Night Fae that give players special class-specific abilities and several new ways to play. One of these is Torghast, a rogue-like dungeon in Shadowlands, that will soon be getting a bit of a revamp from Blizzard. Torghast: Tower of the Damned is an evolving dungeon with randomly-generated levels or layers that players can traverse solo or in groups of up to five other players....

X-Force drops into Fortnite with Week 9 of Deadpool’s challenges! Cable, Domino, and Psylocke, the star members of the X-Men’s black-ops team, are now available in the Item Shop. Although not a mutant himself, Deadpool’s longtime friendship with Cable and his own mercenary habits have earned him a place in X-Force’s roster. Accordingly, his X-Force costume in Fortnite is also up for grabs by completing this week’s challenges. Players will need to collect Deadpool’s shorts and salute his pants with any emote to unlock his skin, but the other X-Force members’ gear and skins are up for grabs right away in the Item Shop....

Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass, the game subscription service that opens access to dozens of games for a monthly fee, is constantly evolving, with new games coming to and leaving from the service every month. However, as the list of game continues to expand, with titles like Resident Evil 7 coming to Game Pass as soon as September 3, some large titles like Red Dead Redemption 2 will be leaving. This announcement comes from the Xbox news blog, alongside a number of other titles coming to Xbox Game Pass over the course of the next month....

Microsoft has rolled out a new Xbox One system update for Insiders that reworks the console’s dashboard dramatically. Three major areas of the Xbox One dashboard have been updated: Home, Guide, and Community, but changes to Avatars, Game Hubs, and Profiles are coming later this fall. According to Microsoft, the changes were made specifically in response to user feedback to make the Xbox dashboard more, “fun, personalized, and social.” Xbox VP Mike Ybarra wrote up a post on Xbox Wire and Major Nelson put together a video previewing the significant changes being made in the Xbox system update....

There were rumors regarding “Project Lockhart” taking place at Microsoft for months, which was the name for a cheaper next-generation system that was less powerful than the Xbox Series X. Yakuza 6: The Song of Life is an action-adventure video game that originally debuted on the PS4 in Japan in December 2016. In March 2018, it was released in Engish in Southeast Asia; in April 2018, it dropped worldwide. A couple of years later, in March 2021, the game came out on PC and Xbox One. I’m not sure how many times I’ve heard fans pine over the idea of a Yoko Taro-directed Final Fantasy. He’s an odd choice, and I think most of his fans even recognize that.
